At Maison de Champagne De Sousa, horses are the future of the vineyard , not a return to the past!
Julie, one of Maison De Sousa's daughters, tells us: "Horses pack the soil less than mechanical viticultural tools, they don 't always walk in the same place, so the soil is much more supple and themicrobial life is better and richer. It's certain that by increasing the quality of life in the soil, the quality of life in thegrapes will only improve."
Erick, the current owner, explains that "the work done by the horses equipped with the plough (which belonged to my grandfather in the past), is an active part of the House's philosophy: Chemistry is the viticulture of the past ".
Capucine and Vidoc are the House's two workhorses, arriving just as the new generation is beginning to take up the torch. They are 3 children: Charlotte, Julie and Valentin.
The House motto: Above all, do no harm to the earth!
This year, the company celebrated 10 years of BIO certification, after more than 20 years of hard work to stop using phytosanitary chemicals.
