"Following the 2019 harvest, we decided to renew our vine plants on one of our plots in Aÿ en Champagne, some of which dated back to 1966. More than 50 years after their youth, they had lost their vitality and robustness despite the quality of the terroir. The new vines have to be planted in healthy, loosened soil, enriched with organic matter, which means that the soil has to be rested and properly prepared.
"So we let the land lie fallow for a year to regenerate the soil and prepare it for new plants. On Monday April 12, we had the pleasure of planting the 1st Pinot Noir vines on this plot. They will only be able to produce Champagne appellation grapes from the third leaf, two years after planting."
Jean-Luc Corpart, Vineyard manager
