Rapport de vendanges 2022, interview with François Demouy Head of Communications and Marketing for Palmer & Co champagnes:
"The 2022 Champagne harvest began on August 25. The absence of disease pressure, the favorable weather and the good health of the grapes encouraged us to be patient, as we wanted to reach optimum phenolic and aromatic ripeness. We started on September 2.
The '2' years continue to thrill us, and after 2002 and 2012 we're going to have another great vintage!
Timely rainfall enabled excellent ripening, while maintaining perfect sanitary conditions. Must acidity was low in some regions, a sign of a sunny year (the warmest year since 1961, with an average of 20°C).
But as always, our Montagne de Reims stand out with their remarkable balance and good acidity. It's still too early to say, as tastings will really get underway in January, but our Cellar Master is confident that this harvest augurs very high quality wines".
