The Maison de Champagne Philipponnat is renowned for producing exceptional champagnes characterized by elegance, complexity and depth of flavor. The House of Champagne Philipponnat is particularly renowned for its vintage champagnes, which are produced only in exceptional years and aged for at least six years before being released on the market.
One of the flagship cuvées of the Philipponnat Champagne House is Clos des Goisses (very difficult to obtain, even if you live in Champagne, as it's a Cuvée prized by the oldest customers who benefit from it, and it's not very productive because of the old vines), made from grapes from a single vineyard of the same name. This champagne is known the world over for its rich, powerful, full-bodied character, with aromas of ripe fruit, roasted nuts and spices.
The vineyard covers an area of around 5.5 hectares and is situated on a steep slope overlooking the river Marne. It was acquired by the Philipponnat family in 1935 and has been a key element in Champagne production ever since. The unique terroir of Clos des Goisses is characterized by its steep slope, which ensures excellent drainage and enables the vines to absorb more light. The soil is composed of chalk and limestone, giving the grapes a distinctive minerality. The champagne produced from the Clos des Goisses vineyard is highly sought-after by collectors and connoisseurs the world over, and is considered one of the finest examples of vintage champagne.
In addition to Clos des Goisses, Champagne Philipponnat produces a range of other high-quality champagnes, including Royale Réserve, a blend of pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay; Blanc de Noirs, a champagne made exclusively from pinot noir; and Rosé Réserve, a rosé champagne made from a blend of pinot noir and chardonnay.
The Philipponnat Champagne House is a respected Champagne House, appreciated by wine critics and champagne lovers around the world for its exceptional quality and commitment to traditional winemaking methods.
"Dear friends,
In perpetual motion. That's how we define our philosophy as much as our promise: that of a House driven by the relentless pursuit of perfection, excellence and progress. We began the year 2023 with the happy tasting of the magnificent vins clairs from the 2022 harvest. A superb vintage that sets our House on the right course for the months ahead, under the banner of precision and quality, as always, and forward movement. We have five hundred years of history, but this does not bind us to the past: on the contrary, it forces us to look to the future. I'm delighted to share with you the latest news from our House, and look forward to seeing you again soon, in Champagne or elsewhere in the World." Charles Philipponnat
