Hugues Godmé, ayant rejoint la Maison de champagne his parents in 1978, a respecté les méthodes traditionnelles avant d'expérimenter de nouvelles techniques pour perpétuer l'héritage de ses grands-parents Joseph et Pierre, initiateurs de la production de champagne Godmé in the 1930. The family Godmé est passionnée par son terroir et valorise son statut de Independent champagne house, fière de produire des champagnes character.The House of champagne Hugues Godmé a pris conscience de l'importance de préserver la vie des sols dans les années 1990. Depuis 2003s, the champagnes Hugues Godmé pratiquent les labours d'hiver toute l'année et adopte un enherbement naturel sur toutes les parcelles. Dès 2006the House of champagne Hugues Godmé a renoncé aux traitements chimiques, privilégiant des méthodes à base de plantes et de sels minéraux. Engagée dans la organic viticulture since 2010 and in biodynamics since 2011, la famille Godmé, composée de Dominique, Hugues, et leur fille Lucille, cultive et commercialise une vendange provenant de 7,5 hectares.

Very few winegrowers in Champagne are certified BIO but the proportion is growing. These Champagne wine professionals are no longer looked upon as wizards, as even the big Houses are converting to organic viticulture. Organic viticulture means making biodynamic champagne, with production constraints still in place.
